Coming Soon: Jesus, God The Word And Scripture The Word of God
Posted by Pastoral Musings on March 3rd, 2012
One of the arguments against inerrancy is based upon the idea that, since Jesus is the Word, Scripture cannot be the Word of God.
In the next week or so I plan to post regarding this. My argument is simple: Jesus the Word of God and Scripture as the Word of God are not mutually exclusive ideas. In fact, they are complementary ideas.
Stay tuned.

Who specifically has argued this – since Jesus is the Word, Scripture cannot be the Word of God?

Another person who will remain nameless, because personalities are not important.
This has no reference to you, or to your excellent post this morning.

Most recognise the Scripture as the word of God, though subservient to the living word of God, Christ.

That is how it should be.
Sadly, there are some (Is that a Barthian position? Not sure if that’s the source or not.) who actually believe that they are mutually exclusive.
I appreciate that, though we disagree on many things, you see the importance of affirming the goal of Scripture as leading us to Christ.
