The Jesus Book is an excellent resource for reading to children. It is a good teaching tool.
Honestly, I was more than a little skeptical when I read the subtitle “The ultimate who, what, when, where, and why, book.” No, it is not the end-all in teaching children. At the same time, the content is very good. The book opens by teaching the deity of Christ. How many books actually take Bible doctrine and teach children? That in itself impressed me greatly.
The book is interesting. The stories are short, but interesting. My children sat in my lap as I read to them, and they enjoyed it.
I do believe the book will serve a great purpose due to the many things that it teaches. It gives us the reason that Jesus came to die, teaches the reality of His resurrection, the simplicity of faith in Christ, gives a call to live for Jesus, and much more.
I recommend it, to be sure.
There is also a CD of music that comes with the book. I quick listen to the CD didn’t reveal a lot that was new, or outstanding, but it is good. My little girl started smiling immediately when the CD started playing. That was good enough for me.
