A Question On Morals, Ethics and Evolution
This question is especially posed to those who have commented here.
It has been asserted that it should be fairly obvious the path by which societal mores can be arrived at from within an evolutionary framework. Let us work through this in this manner?
What is the process by which:
A. An individual forms his morals and ethics
B. A society creates a moral and ethical code?
Then, what is it that will cause this code to be authoritative
A. In the life of the individual
B. in a society?
Finally, what is the criteria which should be met to change morals and ethics:
A. In the life of the individual
B. In a society?
The last question is important because of this:
A society has arrived at a consensus concerning morals and ethics. A man violates the code.
Is he:
A. Punished because the code is authoritative
B. Applauded because he is on the cutting edge of an evolving society and has caused society to see an error in its code?
C. (You fill in the blank)
Just musing…
