Gospel Singers And Their Income

Daniel Mount has an interesting post about Southern Gospel musicians and the fact that they do not receive as much income as many would think.

I post this close on the heels of an article about pastoral income.

This saddens me.  Why should Christians not support their own……especially those who minister to them?

We have been given so much and give back so little, yet the Lord said,  “freely ye have received, freely give.”  (Matthew 10:8) KJV

Surely the grace of God would motivate us to gladly do better than we do.

  • This is a spiritual problem that hinders many of our co-laborers from effectivily preaching the Gospel of the Good News of Jesus Christ - in music or word form.

    Could it be that the church has been so trained to believe that "tithes and offering" are to go to that body; that we feel no obligation to meet the needs of those laboring in the field?

    What seems more important today, paying the electric bill so are sactuaries are well lit and air conditioned, or feeding the ox who is out there laboring?

    Tithing is not a Gentile command; it belongs to Israel. We though, in the Christian church, should be giving above the law's requirements and freely giving to each of our brothers in need -regardless where he happens to call his "local assembly."
